Digital Images

This is the assignment that I enjoyed the most. I created a movie story using family pictures that were downloaded onto my computer. Creating a digital movie is a wonderful to way to put years of pictures in one movie that I can watch anytime and share with friends or other family members. I can really see myself using this as a teacher. I would first have to get permission from parents to take pictures of the students, and I could create a digital movie that I could give out at the end of year that would include pictures of classroom projects, field trips, activites, and students performances, and a whole lot more.

The NETS-T Standards:
"Model Digital Age Work and Learning." The actual goal is Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats.

Legal and Ethical uses of Digital Images.
The legal and ethical uses of digital images contain copyright laws are created to protect the works created by others. The copyright law also places a Fair Use law that places a limit on the use of created works by others. As teachers, and students we need to be understand these limits and comply with these laws when working with digital files.
  • Only 15 photos or 10% can be used without permission when using illustrations and photographs.
  • Always get permission from parents when using photos of children and never use their real names.
  • The same copyright laws apply to music and videos. Only 3 minutes or 10% is allowed.
  • The safest place for using videos for teachers and students is YouTube and Teacher-Tube.

Steps and Guidelines for Creating a Digital Story.
Making a digital story is something that I really enjoyed doing, and I it is something that I will use in my professional and personal life. I remember growing up and having family movies on video was something that was very rare, and now it just a matter of knowing how to do it.
  • First, select a topic and learn about software tools or updates.
  • Second, all the resources from websites, newspapers, or other types of documentation and then create one folder where everything for that project goes in.
  • Third, select media images, audio, and content and place it in order and edit what needs to be edited.
  • Forth, write the script and decide what content should guide the narration and determine the point of view.
  • Fifth, record the script using a microphone on the computer.
  • Sixth, import images to Window Movie Maker, iMovie, or Photo Story, then music, and then narration. Save movie file.
  • Finally, preview the movie and upload it to the website.
